The Rural Village, located at Pembroke Gate, is a must-visit at the 2025 Wānaka A&P Show, showcasing the skills and traditions of rural New Zealand.

This action-packed area features:

• Farrier Competition: A two-part challenge where competitors craft tongs in the Blacksmith Class and make and fit custom shoes in the Shoeing Class.
• Southland Axemen Woodchopping: A fast-paced display of strength and precision as competitors race to chop through massive logs.
• Sheep Shearing: A detailed demonstration of shearing, skirting, and sorting fleece, showcasing the efficiency and skill behind this essential farm task.
• Boer Goat Competition: Watch handlers present these hardy goats, focusing on traits like muscle, structure, and temperament.

The Rural Village celebrates the skill and craftsmanship at the heart of rural trades.

Demonstrations are on Friday and Saturday from 11am onwards.
