Step into the rich tapestry of New Zealand farming history at the Wānaka A&P Show's Dog Trials, a tradition dating back to 1867, right here in Wānaka. As an integral part of our cultural heritage, these trials pay homage to the enduring alliance between farmers and their canine companions. The legacy continues through handlers and their dogs as they vie for the coveted Willis Scaife Memorial Trophy.
Judged not just on speed but also style, competitors navigate sheep around a challenging obstacle course. It's a mesmerizing dance of strategy and skill, where every move is a testament to the historical synergy between human and dog.
The competition is held on Friday 7 March at 1 pm and Saturday 8 March at 8 am. No entries are taken after 10 am on Saturday.
